Mackie Seabrook

With growing up comes many awkward moments that we find ourselves stumbling into. We may find ourselves outside of our comfort zones somewhere between boldly misjudging our circumstances and surroundings or reluctantly experiencing something new.

My artwork is about these pivotal moments... the intentional or haphazard moments in life that teach us about ourselves and the environments with which we interact.

Due to the complexity of life, it can be difficult to determine where we stand. As I've gotten older, I have learned that certain conditions and relationships establish one's connection across specific boundaries (social, psychological, technological, etc.).

In my work, I compose visual layers of the components of coming of age and the resulting expansion of our perception of the world and of ourselves.
