During my New Year's visit at home, I was introduced to a new friend who lives on Seabrook Plantation in Edisto, South Carolina. I had never seen the plantation before, so he gave a quick little tour around the property where appropriate. He showed me some of the damage remaining from Hurricane Mathew and, eventually, took me inside the Seabrook Tea House. He is such a charming young man and incredibly funny. I thoroughly enjoyed briefly exploring Seabrook Plantation, as well as, getting to know a new friend. We continue to chat while he is traveling around the United States and plan to get together again when he returns home. I wanted to preserve the experience we shared by painting this watercolor piece. I am still working out the transformative kinks, but I have big plans for this little painting! I intend to transform it into a screen print and eventually print it onto fabric as a textile pattern. We shall see where this semester takes me. Stay tuned...
